Pet Sitter

Joe R.

Pets in my life or my pets or childhood pets:

My first pet growing up was a loving cat named Minnie. My sister and I were four years old when she came into our lives, and she gave our family joy for 18 years. Everyone in my family kept their room doors open at bedtime because Minnie liked to check-in on everyone and scope out the warmest spot to curl up. Currently, I spend a lot of time with my family's dogs, Gatsby and Hugo--they are my best buds, and I am always excited to see them and play in the back yard.

What I enjoy about being a pet sitter/dog walker:

I enjoy being able to spend time with the different and unique personalities pets have. From being outside for a walk, getting belly/back rubs, to being shown their favorite toy, every moment is interesting or exciting to them.

My funniest pet moment:

I came home from college one afternoon and was sitting with my family in our living room. We had four cats at the time, and after a few minutes, all were sitting around the room looking at me with one paw up. I asked my parents why they were all doing that, and my Mom said, "Your Dad has been training them to raise their paw when they want treats...so now they sit like this a lot." I was amazed and could not stop laughing!

What do animals teach us:

Animals teach us what it means to love unconditionally. They have a remarkable capacity to love us for exactly who we are--no matter where you came from, your income level, or your present struggles. As the center of their world, they teach us that time, compassion, and love can foster an incredible bond.
